Where? Mina, 8km from Makkah
Mina is where pilgrims prepare for the Day of Arafat and stay in tents. It is also where the stoning of the Jamarat takes place.
What to do in Mina:
- Pray shortened Salah (Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha as 2 Rak’ahs each)
- Rest and mentally prepare for Arafat
- Recite Talbiyah & make Duas

When? 9th Dhul Hijjah
Where? Plain of Arafat (10km from Mina)
The Day of Arafat is the most important day of Hajj. Pilgrims gather at Arafat from Dhuhr until Maghrib for worship, supplication, and seeking Allah’s mercy.
What to Do in Arafat ?
- Pray Dhuhr & Asr Salah combined (2 Rak’ahs each)
- Stand at Jabal Rahmah (Mount of Mercy) and make sincere Duas
- Continuously recite Talbiyah, Dhikr & Quran
- Ask for forgiveness and pray for yourself & others
Best Dua for Arafat:
“La ilaha illallah, wahdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer.”
Leaving Arafat for Muzdalifah
When? After Maghrib on 9th Dhul Hijjah
Where? Muzdalifah (between Arafat & Mina)
At sunset, pilgrims leave Arafat without praying Maghrib and travel to Muzdalifah, where they:
- Pray Maghrib & Isha together upon arrival
- Collect 49 or 70 pebbles for the Jamarat (stoning ritual)
- Sleep under the open sky
